The profound love of animals and beauty is strong in this one. Definitely one for the family to watch together.

It is very clear from what I wrote that I was referring to The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare as being a British film. When you said in your original comment that “What started off well, digresses the minute Eiza González appears”. This sentence means it changes subject, not becomes worse. As her part in the film is of somebody gaining intelligence for the raid, which is the main plot of the film, she in no way caused any form of digress. I did look it up, just to check. A thing I’m sure you have not done.

I’ve rescued, and released, many animals in my lifetime. They suffer MORE than we do. As humans, we are responsible for the decimation of biodiversity. The answer is not more beautiful docs or people rescuing animals and NOT allowing them to rewild.

random000 3 points 12 hours ago*.

Same. No animal is “bouncing back”. Humans are the greatest threat to every living thing, including ourselves. We’re at best a cancer to this planet & false ideologies have given invalid license to weak minds to commit atrocities. Schweitzer’s thoughts on this have done much to shine the light on this criminal darkness so that it cannot find shelter in claims of dominion any longer.

Doctor Who (2023)
hellsingfan01 1 points 20 hours ago.

That depends on what your talking about as for example Disney putting huge amounts of money into the show is a good thing but changing it so that the Americans technically get it ahead of us British does seem like an odd move.

grasshopper rex 3 points 20 hours ago.

I’m only referring to content, distribution decisions are theirs to make and seeing as how they bought the streaming rights it does make sense they would release it on their own platform 1st.

Doctor Who (2023)
hellsingfan01 1 points 18 hours ago.

True but you can blame them for making a move that makes alot of the UK fanbase who they should pleasing very angry.

grasshopper rex 3 points 18 hours ago.

With all that’s going on in the world, that seems a silly thing for people to get mad about.

Doctor Who (2023)
grasshopper rex 3 points 20 hours ago.

Disney only bought the streaming rights. They have no creative control of the show. Russell Davies has complete creative control. Sony, the BBC, Bad Wolf Studios and Disney can offer input, but in the end Davies is the only one calling the shots. He has said before that he is a fan of Disney, in particular Pixar, and that he wanted to add more fantasy elements to the show. Anyone not liking it should blame Davies, not Disney, but for many that won’t fit into the anti-Disney narrative some are pushing now.

The latest foray into stating [falsely] that the big cat populations are increasing is a fairy tale. If anyone cares to do research, they will see that man is encroaching, poaching, and legally hunting all big cat species to extinction. We need to curb our enthusiasm for expansion and domination… lest we do not survive — but that’s already set in motion. A beautiful experience to look at, as you stated, Random.

managed to watch 17 minutes of that drivel, before pulling the plug… seems like the writers had never watched a dr. who episode in their lives. Bad over acting, and that fella is not the doctor.. Jodie at least acted like the doctor, she just had crap scripts ,. I reckon they have finally killed dr. who. for me at least..Others may like it, I am just dissapointed..

The FBI had to know. It was all over the internet. He had personnel replaced at the top level of the military…I was expecting him to call martial law and take over and it’s a wonder he didn’t. The liberals have been complacent for decades and continue to sleepwalk. There are still many who should be held accountable for what happened that day. Looked like the crowd were better armed than the capital cops. Idk why they didn’t shoot more of the rioters.

She was oversocialised/dependent on humans. For a wild creature, that is the same thing. Whatever back to you. You really don’t like to have a dialogu. You just want to be right, at whatever cost. Many times we agree with you, but in this case you are wrong, full stop. Do some research on over socialised wild animals with humans and the detriment that brings to the ENTIRE ecosystem. Good luck GR.

grasshopper rex 2 points 11 hours ago.

How incredibly thin-skinned of you to attack me personally because I disagreed with you. Did you watch the entire thing? She had already been going off and fishing by herself and interacting with other otters even before he stopped feeding her. She had gone off for a couple of months before she returned pregnant to a place she knew she would be safe to give birth. She was fully capable of taking care of herself. He didn’t interact with her cub, and the 2 left when it was time for it to go out into the world to learn how to survive in it. No harm was done to her in any way, full stop. If you can’t engage with others without getting your feelings hurt and lashing out because they don’t agree with you, maybe stop going on other people’s comments to contradict them. I definitely would invite you to stop engaging with me. Good luck to you as well. :)

As humans, we definitely need to reign ourselves in…Think you can domesticate, then dominate a big cat…uh, yeah…How’d that work out for Sigfreid and Roy ?

Not when you take into account that the show is and always has been a British institution with the show itself being made and produced in the UK and when the show did air episodes worldwide at the same time they always put the UK audience first.

grasshopper rex 2 points 19 hours ago.

The show has a viewership of almost twice the population of the UK. Like it or not, it belongs to the world now. The BBC is British television, and they went into this deal knowing full well that this would happen. You can’t blame the player for how the game is played.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024)
ThinMan -2 points yesterday.

What started off well, digresses the minute Eiza González appears… then it goes down hill FAST. Unfunny, and completely unrealistic, this is the American remake of Sisu, whhich was deficient in its own ways, but this is worse! Passable, but yawnable, amusement. Thanks for the links! We would never have rented this…

SoakedWeasel 1 points 14 hours ago.

I thought you were commenting on a different film, as what you wrote makes so little sense.
Yes, the true story of an actual raid. A raid that did really take place and pretty much saved Europe, is unrealistic… Sisu is fiction. It is a British film by the way, with some American backing.
Also, you should probably look up what digress means. Think you’ll be surprised.

5/5 for me - It’s been a long time since there was such a good war action movie. I didn’t know it was going to be so good. I’m absolutely going to watch this one again. To find out this is based on real people and I had no idea that Ian Fleming based his character, James Bond, on an actual person.

Doctor Who (2023)
hellsingfan01 1 points 21 hours ago.

Yeah that is something that is going to take some getting used especially as there really wasn’t a presendent set for it before now unlike a time lord becoming a female for example.

Actually, the reboot in 2005 set the precedent. Technically, this would be what, season 40?

Darkness of Man (2024)
SheWatches 1 points 14 hours ago.

It’s like an old gum shoe detective show at the beginning. I don’t like the filming companies. Jean Claude is still a beefy catch at his age (speaking from a mature woman’s perspective). The writer sucks. The premise and actors were good, but they got stuck with a script that didn’t do them justice. JCVD still has great action moves. Some unexpected laughs. This movie is going to do very well outside of the US market.

well i have been watching it for over 50 years! and I’ve seen change after change… If nothing else, the show moves with the times…. and i accepted that long ago, especially after watching my beloved Sarah Jane leave in The Hand of Fear. i had just started high school at the time, and couldn’t believe that she would ever leave…
